June 28: Status Update

I made it through my first week of my new treatment plan. Overall it wasn’t too bad, but I did have a fever/flu like symptoms on Wednesday. Drs said this is common with the first round of GemCARBO so fingers crossed it was isolated.

I also got my appointment scheduled with the Cleveland Cancer Clinic. I fly to Cleveland on 7/11 for an appointment. It was jumping through hoops to get my records send over… I definitely see the business case for electronic medical files.

I also got a referral to the Piedmont Cancer Rehabilitation center. I started down the path of just a Physical Therapist, but realized quickly they wouldn’t have experience with my specific cancer related issues. PCR seems to have targeted Breast Cancer rehabilitation plans which can hopefully help me with my limited arm mobility (from surgery), back pain (from radiation) and anything else I can try to get them to solve.

I’m really trying to focus on healthy living during this new round. I’ve been trying to walk heavily and ensure I get lots of exercise, so having to relax on Thursday was disappointing… It brought my step average down from 80k to 70k… blerg. I’m going for a restrictive diet vegan/ pescitarian and low sugar. And once things settle in a bit, I’m going to try to pick up yoga.

But with that, I want to thank everyone for the amazing love and support that has been pouring in! It keeps me going! The thoughts, posts, cards, calls, notes, texts, dinners, love are all so uplifting. Thank you to everyone!

  1. I’m also vegan/pescatarian so let’s swap recipes! I hate that you’re going through round 2 but if anyone can kick this, it’s you!! ❤️
