My new treatment plan is in the works:
- GemCarbo Chemo Therapy: 6/24 – 8/12: 3 cycles (2 weekly doses followed by 1 week off – They sometimes call this Day 1, Day 8 cycle)
- Will start with 3 cycles and pending testing may add in more
- Dates of Chemo – Mondays (6/24, 7/1, 7/15, 7/22, 8/5, 8/12) Because of a low WBC one week, we’re moving to Fridays. 6/24, 7/5, 7/19, 7/26, 8/9, 8/16)
- I’ll take injections to boast WBC on days 4,5,6 and 18,19,20 to keep my counts up. I’m going to give them to myself!
- CHEMO: Gemcitabine hcl (Gemzar) IV (30 min infusion)
- CHEMO: CARBOplatin IV (30 min infusion)
- Also given in IV: Palonosetron (Aloxi) for naseau
- Also given in IV: Decadron – Steroid for nausea (ants in the pant drug sad face)
- CT Scan: 8/14 – ensure it hasn’t spread.
- They may chose to do more rounds after the scan, but minimum of 3 rounds (4 is a possibility, not sure about more)
- Surgery: TBD after Chemo
- Remove the skin with clean margins
- Radiation: TBD (3-4 weeks after surgery)
- Sterilize the skin using a special radiation that warms the cells making the cancer weaker
- 4 weeks of 2x daily hyperthermia radiation Monday – Friday
- Done at the Cleveland Clinic Cancer Center in Cleveland OH
- Cured!
- I’m hoping to be done and cured by the holidays!
